Friday May 11: The day started out a little different than any other. I woke up about 9:30 having contractions. They were between 10 and 12 minutes apart. They continued like this till about 3 and then started to slow down. So I decided to go for a little stroll to my parents house to see if that would jump start the contractions again. It worked! By 7 they were really getting pretty uncomfortable and getting stronger. At 7:30 my contractions were 5 minutes apart so I had Trav call Doctor Jones to see what he thought we should do. He was already at the hospital waiting to deliver a baby so he told us to come up and he'd check and see where I was at. We got to the hospital at 8 and I was at a 6! He broke my water shortly after that to get things moving a little faster. By 10 my contractions were getting painful (before they were just uncomfortable but totally bearable) I decided to get an epidural at that point. It was the BEST decision I ever made. (A good friend once told me that epidurals are sent straight from heaven and boy was she right! it was amazing!) I was able to rest a little and visit with everyone that was there to support us. At 2:30 my awesome nurse came in to check and see how things were going. I was at a 10 and ready to push! I was totally prepared for this part to take hours, but it didn't! I only pushed for about 25 minutes! It was a breeze and totally worth every bit of discomfort I had to deal with afterwards.
